The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing MA (psychology) degree is having graduation degree in any stream. However, many of the reputed universities demand graduation degree with Honours in psychology or psychology as one of the subjects studied in graduation from any of the recognised university/college of the country for admission to MA (psychology) degree course. Some of the very reputed universities and institutes demand a minimum of 45-50% marks in graduation as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this course and some also conduct entrance examination to get admission to their MA (psychology) degree course. Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of graduation and the entrance exam.

Most institutes offering the course admit students based on their performance in the HSC (10+2) exam. The candidate needs to have:

B.Sc. in Psychology: Admission Process
Interested eligible candidates are offered admission to the course in India mostly on the basis of the score attained at the 10+2 level. However, some institutes in the country offer the course based on the candidates performance in a relevant institute-specific entrance test. Often subsequently, two additional rounds of Group Discussion and Personal Interview are held for assessment of the candidates general aptitude for the course.
