National Academy of Indian Railways, Baroda runs training programmes for Indian Railways officers of all disciplines and all grades right from Probationers to General Managers. It does not offer courses directly like an engineering college or polytechnic or management college.

You are advised to appear in Indian Engineering Services Examination conducted by UPSC to join Indian Railways as Group A officers in Mechanical branch. You can also appear in examinations conducted by Railway Recruitment Board for subordinate services posts.

Yes, you can apply for JE (mechanical) in railways.
The JE exam is held for the junior engineers posts in different departments of the railways. You being ITI in Mechanical Engineering will get into mechanical department if you qualify in all the stages of the exam.

As you want to work in the railways, first, check your eligibility (educational & age limit) which varies from post to post.
RRB conducts exams for in 2 categories- technical and non-technical
Technical exams are conducted for the following categories:
1. RRB ALP
2. RRB JE|SSE
3. RRC Group D
Non-technical exams are conducted under the following category:
1. RRB NTPC
After this you can check the syllabus and start your preparations as per the eligible post.

Yes, you can as if you are an electrical or mechanical engineer then you get a chance to get job in the Indian railways, but you have to score good marks in the GATE exam.

Indian railways doesn't recruit directly from the campus. They have their own entrance exam for different levels no matter whether you are from mechanical, civil, electrical or any other.
