St. Xavier's College Central Library is one of the oldest college libraries of Ranchi. It started functioning in 1947. At present, the library holds 1,66,669 books and 105 national and international periodicals. There are also department libraries managed by the respective department and a separate PG library with 5,750 books for postgraduate students.

St. Xavier's College provide a range of UG, PG & Vocational courses to the students. There are 6 departments offering these courses in the fields of Humanities, Social Science, and Commerce. UG level courses like BA, BCom, BBA, etc. are offered to the duration of 3 years. At the PG level courses like MA, MSc, MCom are offered. The duration of these courses are of 2 years. 

For the 2026 placement season, BA graduates can expect an average salary package between INR 2 - 4 LPA. While the highest packages in the college can go up to INR 15 LPA, those are typically reserved for specialised or PG courses. BA students are usually hired for the entry-level roles, so students are suggested not to expect very high packages right after graduation.

BA students are hired by top firms like TCS, Accenture, Concentrix, and Deloitte. These companies look for graduates for management, operations, and customer support roles usually. Additionally, retail companies like Reliance and Pantaloons have also recruited from St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, for front-end and administrative positions.

Since St. Xavier's College is an autonomous institution, it has the freedom to design its own examination and assessment patterns. Students are evaluated through a mix of internal assessments, semester-end examinations, and practical projects. There is a very strict attendance requirement of 75% to be eligible for these exams. The difficulty level is generally considered fair, and the questions are syllabus-based.
