The CCAAs (Course Completed Act Apprentice) trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) for preparation of the final merit list. Such candidates are exempted from PET/PST. Railways will give one-third weightage to the NCVT marks in preparation of RRB Group D final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Earlier, CCAAs had to appear for PET and the final merit list was prepared based on the marks obtained in CBT and PET subject to qualifying the document verification.

RRB Group D normalisation is done to adjust difficulty level of question paper. Result is announced based on the normalised marks. Total marks allotted to the test are 100. There are negative marks for the exam.

The normalised score is determined by factoring in each set's degree of difficulty. Since every set of questions is different from the others, each set's difficulty level varies. Normalisation takes more than one exam shift to finish.
