The Sericulture course duration depends on its level and the college providing the program. For instance, the UG course lasts for 3 to 4 years, similarly, a PG course lasts for 2 years. Meanwhile, a PhD course can last up to 6 years and a diploma or certification course can be anywhere from 1 month to 1 year.

Sericulture is a multidisciplinary subject that encompasses various branches of Biology, Agriculture, and technology. It primarily focuses on the cultivation of silkworms and the production of silk.

Given its interdisciplinary nature, sericulture courses often cover a broad range of topics, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the entire silk production process—from the cultivation of mulberry plants to the harvesting and processing of silk.

If you belong to SC category and you have score somewhere around 148 then there are many options available for you to get admission into government college of horticulture, sericulture or forestry . For the field of horticulture I would suggest you to get admission into Tamilnadu agriculture University or its affiliated colleges. For the field of sericulture Tamilnadu sericulture institute or its affiliated colleges are the best. For the field of forestry, Forest College and Research Institute in Metupalayam or its affiliated colleges.
