For an International Candidate to get an admission at Manipal institute of technology who can be a Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) or a Non-Resident Indians (NRI), Foreign Nationals or Indian Workers in Gulf Countries, Candidates seeking admission under this category should be a Foreign Nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries must undergo a test that shall be conducted by the SMU in order for the International Students to obtain Registration Certificate or No Objection Certificate from Foreign Registration Office of India. And then follow the specified directions from the Officials at SMU for the finalisation of the admission process.

At Manipal Institute of Technology there are several Extra Curricular Activities and Clubs available for the Students to participate in and enhance several skills. Given below is a list of few Clubs and their Activities:

• ILLUSION: ILLUSION, a group filled with never ending energy and boldness is the oldest dance group on the campus. Inspiring students of SMIT to dance and let it out since 2000. Its members receiving the highest praise for their diverse forte from bollywood to b-boying, their musicality, and their sheer human authenticity.
• UDAAN: UDAAN has been consistently performing in various inter- and intra-college dance competitions and events and has always won the heart of audience. UDAAN came together to represent SMIT in Kaalrav ’16 and ‘17 and secured Second Prize in the Group Dance Competition. The soul and whole motive of UDAAN is to entertain people and express themselves which is reflected in their performance.
• CHROMATIX: Chromatix is the first ever Music Club of SMIT founded and established in the year 2016.The club functions as a family and gives platform for the daily advancement of an individual. Their consistency and hardwork handed the club its very first opportunity to perform in Kaalrav’17.

P.S. : There are also Sports Club, Photography Club and Innovation Clubs for the Students to enhance their skills and make endless memories at SMIT.

At Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology there are several technical events that take place. Here's a list of a few events that already took place or to happen for a brief idea:

• ICCDN 2024: The International Conference on Communication Device and Networking organised by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering will take place at Manipal Institute of Technology on January 19, 2024-January 20, 2024
• MIDA: The International Workshop on a Machine Intelligence and Data Analytics will be organised by the Department Of Information Technology and centre for Faculty & Staff Development in collaboration with the Technology Innovation Hub, Indian statistical institute, Kolkata from 19, June 2023 to 21 June, 2023
• International Workshop On Machine Intelligence and Data Analytics: Three days International Workshop on Machine Intelligence And Data Analytics that took place between 19th June, 2023 to 21st June, 2023. This workshop was conducted jointly by Department Of Information Technology and Centre For Faculty And Staff Development, SMIT in collaboration with IDEAS-Technology Innovation Hub, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.

There are several Cultural Events that happen at Sikkim Manipal institute of technology:

• One of the popular among these are Annual Fest which is also called 'Kaalrav', which generally last for 2-3 days. The days are filled with several events such as sports, art, drama, etc. with a number of cultural events full of diversity and colors. 
• For the First Year Students, there is a 'Fresher's Eve' conducted specially for them to make a memorable day at SMIT. 
• Talking about some other cultural events at SMIT includes the 'Intra College Academy Event' which includes creative writing competition Extempore speech competition and debate competition.

And the list goes on including several Awareness Camps, Workshop and other Cultural Events that take place at SMIT.
