The film school was founded in 1992 by popular film & television producer Jerry Sherlock, as an alternative to the other film schools in New York City.
The institute was originally located at the Tribeca Film Center before moving to Union square as part of the former Tammany Hall building in 1994.
After 23 years of being located there, it finally moved to its current Battery Park campus in Oct, 2015.
