Off-campus is much cheaper than on-campus. On campus has its own security deposit which is around INR 15 Lacs which is much costlier for an Indian student. Food is also costlier in the university so I suggest to prefer off campus.

For an Indian student, off-campus accommodation is typically cheaper. Off- campus accommodation can save upto $10000 annually and on-campus accommodation can cost you $3000-5000 per semester. If you wish to live off-campus you should also consider extra cost like car and travel to campus on a daily basis. Therefore it up to you and your budget and convenience.

You can prefer going to univeristy daily which increases the connectivity and from that you will be able to find the roomates and group of friends. There are many friends in the hostel or an apartment which is also a easier way to find the roomates.

Firstly Indian students should do research on which area is cheaper or budget friendly according to their budget. Have a look on scholarships, education loan, and financial aid from the university. Students should prefer shared accomodation in the group of four. Dont waste food and cooking itself is more needed for Indian students as food in the restaurant is costly.

You can apply for scholarships which are based on SAT/ACT scores which provides $6000 annually but it does not cover entire tuition cost. Additionally you will have to maintain 3.5 GPA to avail any scholarship. It is unlikely to study free at Florida Atlantic University but International students can get many scholarships based on English proficiency and ACT/SAT Scores.
