Due to the German public education system, SRH North Rhine-Westphalia typically charges higher tuition than the University of Cologne, a public university that charges little to free tuition for overseas students. Nonetheless, some students may find that SRH's private, practice-focused curriculum, smaller class groups, and individualised attention make up for the higher tuition. Furthermore, living expenses (housing, food, and travel) in North Rhine-Westphalia are similar to those in Cologne. The decision between the two schools may ultimately come down to personal preferences for price, curriculum, and campus life.

Several English proficiency tests are accepted by Hope College to evaluate the language competency of international students. These consist of the Duolingo English Test, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The college's admissions page usually specifies the minimum scores needed. For example, Hope College typically demands a minimum of 110 on Duolingo, 6.5 on the IELTS, or 79 on the TOEFL iBT. Being a relatively newer and smaller university in comparison to more established ones, SRH Haarlem Campus, which is a part of the SRH University Network in Germany, does not have a specific world rating. Small class sizes and the provision of excellent, career-oriented education with a heavy emphasis on practical skills are the main priorities, not global rankings. Prospective students are advised not to base their decision-making exclusively on standard ranking indicators, but also to take into account the campus's academic programs, faculty, industry links, and student support services.
