The graduate route visa in the UK lets international students to stay and look for work in the UK for a period of 2 years after the completion of their studies. Once the validity period of this visa expires students will have to switch to another form of visa (work visa) if they wish to continue living and working in the UK.

If you are a national from the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you do need a visa to pursue your higher education in the UK. Students from all other nationalities need to have a valid UK student visa to study in the UK.

Following are the basic requirements for UK Student Visa:
- Candidates must have an unconditional offer from a recognised educational institute for pursuing a course with a licensed Tier 4 sponsor.
- Appropriate funds to support yourself and for the course.

Currently you require £1,334 per month (for up to 9 months or one academic year) for courses in London. Whereas, for courses outside London, you require £1,023 per month (for up to 9 months or one academic year).
However, starting from 02 January, 2025, these amounts are going to increase. The funds required for a course in London will increase to £1,483 per month and for a course elsewhere, the sum will be £1,136.
