The highly competitive branches such as General surgery, obstretrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ent, etc. are tough to get but not impossible. You require tremendously high scores and a good profile to even be considered for the highly competitive residencies.

United Kingdom- You will need to clear the PLAB exam, which is divided into 2 parts, a theory exam which is based on multiple choice questions and a practical exam which tests your clinical skills. However, you will be required to work as an intern for 2 years in the UK, where you will be posted in various departments. After that, you can pick a speciality of your choice and that requires a further three years to complete. Similar to the US, highly competitve specialities are a little tougher to get for non Uk citizens.
