Eligibility criteria for admission in MCA at Institute of Distance & Open Learning (IDOL), University of Mumbai: Candidates who have passed graduation in any faculty with the 45 percent marks in aggregate (40 percent marks for reserved category) and Mathematics at XII or higher level from a recognized Institute/ University are eligible to apply.

Yes, Yes, it is possible to get direct admission at the Institute of Distance and Open Learning - University of Mumbai. The admission process is based on merit for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses except for MMS and MCA programs, which require candidates to appear for an entrance examination. The mode of application is online, and candidates can register on the official website to obtain the application form for the courses. The application fee ranges from INR 300 to INR 600. The University invites applications for admission to the July session from May to June.

In order to pursue MBA from a Mumbai University-affiliated college, selection will be based on merit scores obtained by the students in one among MAT,  XAT,  CAT,  CMAT,  MAH CET,  ATMA,  GMAT,  NMAT,  SNAP,  SMAT exams accepted by the various affiliated colleges of MU. MU admissions usually commence in June and go on till August. For the exact dates on Mumbai University and its MBA admission dates, students are advised to visit this page regularly.  To be eligible for BTech at Mumbai University affiliated colleges, students must fulfil the below eligibility criteria:

  • They must be a pass in Class 12 with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects and have a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for backward categories students from Maharashtra) 
  • For Biomedical and Biotech Engineering specialisations: Candidates, along with the specialisation mentioned above, must have Biology as a qualifying exam with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for backward categories students from Maharashtra)

In order to pursue BTech from an MU-affiliated college, the selection is based on merit scores obtained by the students in Class 12 followed by a valid score/ rank in MHT-CET or JEE Main. MU admission to all courses starts in the month of June and the deadline for filling up and submitting the Mumbai University admission form and pre-admission online enrollment form for UG programmes is usually June.

The university follows norms of Maharashtra State Government for seat reservation. For SC category students, 13% seats are reserved, 7% for ST students, 19% for OBC students. 11% of seats are reserved combined for NT (B), NT (C), NT (D) and DT (A) categories. Beyond all these, 10% of seats are reserved for General categories and there are a few seats also reserved for women, SBC, Physically Handicapped and other categories.
