You can become a Veterinarian after completing your graduation in Zoology subject. You can use your graduate degree to become a Vet Technician, to be precise.

By becoming a Vet Technician you can assist the veterinarian in major and minor procedures on animals as well as medical testing and checkups. But, to become a veterinarian, zoology majors should pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

Eligibility criteria differ for UG, PG, and PhD courses in zoology. A Science stream candidate who clears Class 12 with Biology as a subject is eligible for admission to BSc Zoology. For the PG course in Zoology subject, BSc/BSc (Hons) in Zoology is a must, though candidates who passed BSc/BA in medical and allied medical sciences/biosciences/life sciences are also eligible to apply.

For a PhD, a Post-graduation degree in a relevant discipline with 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) is a must.

If you're passionate about understanding and conserving specific animal species or working directly with animals, Zoology might be more suitable. On the other hand, if you're interested in broader environmental issues, sustainability, and how human activities impact the environment as a whole, Environmental Science might align better with your goals.

An undergraduate education in the fundamentals of animal behaviour, physiology, evolution, and ecology can be obtained with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. It equips students for entry-level positions in Science education, conservation, wildlife management, and research support. Usually, it takes three to four years to finish the BSc.

With more advanced, specialised coursework and independent research, an MSc in Zoology expands on a BSc. It enables students to specialize in a particular field of Zoology and equips them for careers in research, management, or postgraduate study. After earning a BSc, the MSc normally takes 1-2 yea
