No doubt, Thapar is far better than Chitkara. If you are really interested in electrical engineering. Then you should opt for Thapar. You have to decide in which field you want to build your career.

Is chitkara university approved by UGC? Do 'approved by UGC' and 'recognised by UGC' mean same?

Yes, Chitkara University is approved by UGC. Sorry, I have no idea about B.Des degree.

UPES is mainly for the studies for petroleum eve the environment of upes is not that good so I would suggest you chitkara!

As I have heard SRM Sonipat is not that good. Chitkara is very good in terms of placement, crowd and academics. The faculty here are highly educated and are very kind hearted. They are always ready to help the students.
