Choosing LL.B after a PCB background is absolutely fine, and many students from science streams switch to law without facing any difficulty. The law program starts from the basics, so you won't feel left behind just because you studied biology in school. The early semesters focus on fundamental subjects like Constitutional Law, Legal Theory, and Criminal Law, which do not require any prior background in arts or commerce. All students begin at the same level, making it comfortable for science students to adjust. In fact, your science background can sometimes help you develop a more logical and structured way of thinking, which is useful in legal studies. Success in law depends on your interest in reading, understanding cases, and participating in practical activities—not on your 12th-grade stream. So, if you genuinely want to build a career in law, choosing LL.B after PCB is not risky at all and can be a great fresh start.

The B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course at Chandigarh University does not have a traditional cutoff list like many government colleges. Instead, the university uses its own entrance exam, CUCET, to decide admission. To apply, you must have at least 60% marks in 10+2, but your actual selection depends on how well you perform in CUCET. Students who score higher in the test usually get an early advantage because seats fill quickly during the admission cycle. In the recent admission sessions, students who scored in the above-average range in CUCET comfortably secured a seat in the program. Since the university does not accept CLAT scores for admission, focusing on CUCET preparation is the best way to meet the effective cutoff and improve your chances of getting into the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) course.

The department has modern classrooms, a special law library, a big auditorium, and two moot courts for real practice. One of the most unique things about the department is the Pro Bono Club, which is supported by the Ministry of Law and Justice. Another important part of CU's law department is Madhyastha – Centre of Excellence, where students learn Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
