BAOU accepts admission to either first or second year of the course. Those taking admission in the first year should have a UG degree. While for those taking admission in the second year, a PGD in social work after graduation from a recognised university is needed.

No, the university does not conduct any entrance tests for MSW course admission. Admission to the PG-level course is merit-based. Hence, the aspirant's merit in the UG degree is taken into consideration. Additionally, it is also compulsory that the students meet the eligibility criteria.

Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements can apply by filling out the application form. The university accepts applications for BA courses via online mode. Candidates can hence visit the BAOU website to fill out the application. At the time of form filling, important documents such as Class 10 and 12 pass certificates also have to be uploaded. The total tuition fee for BAOU BA programme is INR 5,400. The open university offers MA courses in five specialisations in the streams of Humanities & Social Sciences, Mass Communication & Media. The MA specialisations offered by BAOU are Hindi, English, Sociology, Gujarati, Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC). Candidates can apply for any of the MA specialisations after completing graduation.

Aspirants who have passed class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognised board are eligible to apply for a BA course in BAOU Ahmedabad. Candidates shall have the pass certificate with them at the time of form filling or at the time of admission (if required).
