What does Astronomers do?
Astronomers are the observers who discovers information about how the universe works from the planets in our solar system. It includes study about the evolution of stars. Astronomer implements the principles of Mathematics and Physics to carry out research about the universe. They makes the use of telescopes and computer programs for gathering data on the characteristics of planets, moons, stars and other objects.

No, you cannot get admission in IIST after Diploma, the only way to get admission is through JEE.

Aerospace Engineers would normally be employed by organisations / institutions carrying out research work in the field of aerospace. Primarily ISRO and to some extent DRDO are the main two which will be providing employment to MTech's in this field. In fact your institute has been funded / sponsered by ISRO. Private industry has also started entering this field albeit in small steps presently but is expected to take strong strides in the days to come is also expected to chip in as probable employer. Your job would be research oriented work.

You need to clear IIT-JEE Advance to get admission in IIST. In class 12th, you should have at least 20% marks in aggregate and at least 5% in each of the three subjects (Physics, chemistry and mathematics). All the best your future.
