Yes, the University of Kerala has separate hostels for both boys and girls. There are six hostels under the University of Kerala at Kariavattom campus and at Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram. Two boys (PG & Research) and three girls (Two PG & One Research) hostel at Kariavattom Campus and one girl hostel at Vazhuthacaud. Also, the university provides an International Youth Hostel to cater to the temporary residential needs of the students and faculty.

The Scholarships shall be awarded only to students who pass the HSE/ VHSE/ CBSE/ ISC examination at the first attempt and who secure not less than 55% of marks at the HSE/ VHSE/ CBSE/ ISC Examination. Kerala University awards scholarship to PG students with first-class bachelor's degree obtained at the university examination. 

Kariavattom Campus of Kerala University has a playground where students play football, cricket and hockey. Since students were not permitted to leave the hostel after midnight, the security staff was excellent and strict. At 9 PM, dinner was served.
