As per my knowledge, Roommates for freshers are allotted randomly based on first come first serve basis. Still you want to book with your friend, I would say you a drop a email to residential department or admissions department. After completion of your first year rooms will be available for you to choose. But there are many students to take the rooms at same time. To reduce this LPU conducts two rounds to choose rooms. First round for all honours and CGPA above 8 students and second round for all other students. You can select room of your choice and take with your friends too. At the end of the first academic session, we are asked to participate in the hostel polling (for changing room) if anyone is interested. Many of the students come up for the hostel polling as they need to change their rooms for various different reasons. An announcement is made in the UMS about the dates of the polling. We can book our preferred hostel room and after the polling is completed we are allotted the assigned rooms.
