MBA at Periyar University is accredited by UGC. The Government of Tamil Nadu established Periyar University in Salem on 17th September 1997 as per the provisions of the Periyar University ACT 1997. The University bagged 83th rank among Indian Universities by MHRD NIRF 2020. Because University has been established by government. Of Tamilnadu through an act and get approved by UGC, hence its all courses have full validity for higher education and employment.

It's very nice to hear from you that you are interested in doing your PG in food technology. If it's MTech then it will not be allowed to be offered by distance education since UGC has disallowed distance education mode for all professional courses. However, if it's MSc then you can think of it.

Periyar University offers both B.Sc and M.Sc in microbiology, but the university does not offer distance education so they established Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE) in the year 2001-2002, you can apply for distance education in PRIDE.
