Periyar University is a UGC recognized university founded in 1997 by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It has a grade of A++ accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The university has 100+ colleges. In addition to this, Periyar University has a PG Extension Centre at Dharmapuri which has 9 departments.
