To be eligible for UG courses, prospective candidates have the option to appear for the following entrance exams: Presidency University conducts its own entrance exam, known as PUEET, for UG admissions.Candidates can also gain eligibility for UG courses by appearing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main). The university sets specific cut-off percentiles for JEE Main scores. KCET Presidency University considers KCET scores for admission to its UG programs. COMEDK Candidates who have taken the COMEDK UGET can also seek admission to UG courses at Presidency University. EAMCET scores are considered for eligibility in certain UG programs. The University has 17 departments that offers UG, PG and PhD programmes in Arts and Science specialisations. Admission to all the courses offered by the University is entrance-based every year. However, for admission to the academic year 2021-22, the entrance exams conducted for admission to UG and PG courses by WBJEEB, i.e. PUBDET and PUMDET stand cancelled. All the admissions for this academic year will be based on merit in the last qualifying exam.

In the academic session of 2022, the university initiated the admission process by releasing application forms in the month of November. The university currently offers UG, PG and doctoral-level courses in the field of Arts and Science. For admission to the University, WBJEEB conducted PUMDET and PUBDET exams for PG and UG admission. However, from the academic batch of 2021-22, WBJEEB has cancelled both these exams and admission will strictly be based on merit scores obtained by the students at the undergraduate level and Class 12 for PG and UG admission, respectively.One cannot get admission with 60% in class 12th for admission one requires 70% or equivalent marks in class 12th.

Jadhavpur University has 50 seats and prsidency University has 28. The fee structure compratively is also less for all courses in Preseidency than Jadavpur University.
