Yes, LPU is a good choice for B.Tech in Civil Engineering. The programme has solid labs, industry-oriented curriculum, and faculty who are genuinely helpful—I've seen how patiently they guide students. Friends from the civil branch appreciated the hands-on projects and site-visit exposure, and placements are decent in construction, infrastructure, and design firms. Overall, it's a reliable option.

Hi.

Eligibility for registration with the Oman Society Of Engineers (OSE) using a "Professional Graduate Programmme" in civil engineering from IIMTS is uncertain, and likely not directly eligible for professional engineer status based on search results.

Here's a breakdown of the key issues:
  • OSE Requirements: The OSE generally requires a standard engineering degree from a recognised university. As of August 2025, OSE certification is mandatory for all engineers to secure or renew work permits in Oman. This certification process involves verifying academic qualifications through agencies like the DataFlow Group.

With a TNEA rank of 12,648 and a cutoff of 174 for Civil Engineering at Thiagarajar College of Engineering, your chances are very low.

  • The cutoff rank is much better (lower) than your rank.

  • You may not get Civil Engineering in this college through counselling.

  • Consider other branches or other colleges with higher cutoff ranks as backup options.

In GATE Civil Engineering counselling, seat allocation priority is: Institute preference → Category/reservation → GATE score → Branch preference → Counselling round. Fill choices carefully, as allotment depends mainly on score, rank, and reservation.

As a Sri Lankan refugee, you can apply for Civil Engineering via JoSAA (NITs/IIITs/GFTIs) or your state CET counselling. Ensure you have Physics, Chemistry, Maths. Use your refugee certificate/UNHCR card, 10+2 marks, and ID to register online and participate in counselling rounds.

Please confirm your state/counselling board, whether 614 is branch or category rank, and your category (OC/BC/SC/ST).
These details are needed to list Civil Engineering colleges you can get in 2nd phase counselling.
