Overall, my experience at HIMT campus was very positive.Students come to study in this college all over  India as well as neighboring countries. The college is known for marine engineering courses.

The selection in BTech at Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training, HIMT is on the basis of Class 12 marks. Applicants must have qualified Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Maths from a recognised Board. In my opinion, VIT Chennai is better than HIMT college becausethe highest salary placement in VIT Chennai is 75 LPA and the highest salary placement in HIMT College is 4 LPA. VIT has 2 coarses for B Sc. and HIMT has only one i.e Nautical Science.Total fees in VIT for B Sc. is 2.40 Lacs whereas in HIMT is 9.75 Lacs i.e VIT is cheaper.NAAC Accreditation for VIT is 'A+' and there is no NAAC Accreditation for HIMT.

Total 6 recruiter companies offered job opportunities to the students at HIMT. Total 55 students got placed this year. The popular recruiters were Fleet Management limited, D Amico Ships India Private Limited, Tomini Shipping, etc.  Compared to last year the placement scenario has not been that good. Last year total 10 recruiter companies visited the college campus and total 104 students got placed.
