ETO 32 Passing – Out Ceremony at HIMT College

April 4, 2025: On October 24, 2024, HIMT College had the distinct honor of welcoming Capt. Makesh Sivaram Krishnan, Senior Tanker Operations Manager at Fleet Management Pvt. Ltd., as the esteemed guest for the ETO 32 Batch Pass-Out Ceremony. This highly anticipated event was a significant milestone for both the cadets and the institution, marking the transition of the ETO 32 batch from students to maritime professionals. The visit of Capt. Makesh added prestige and inspiration, motivating the future officers as they prepared to embark on their careers. 

The ceremony commenced with a grand entry for Capt. Makesh Sivaram Krishnan, who was warmly received by Dr. Sanjeev S.Vakil, CEO of HIMT College, along with the Principal Capt.Anand Subramanian, faculty members and cadets. Launch of Vertical Integration Course for Trainers

November 16, 2019: HIMT College (Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training) has launched the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS)-approved "Vertical Integration Course for Trainers". It is mandatory to be undertaken for those who want to qualify as trainers and assessors for conduct of courses approved by the Directorate General of Shipping. It is important for the trainers to be technically qualified in all the aspects of their subjects. This course will help trainees to organise themselves better for effective teaching and training with the help of modern techniques and also will help them evaluate the teaching and learning process. This is a ten-day short course available for a fee of Rs 11,900. Towards the end of this course, trainees will have permanent, part-time, or short-contracts type of job opportunities available to them.

HIMT Receives Maritime Standard Award 2019

October 23, 2019: Upon completion of 21 years of educational services, Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training has been awarded with one National and International award- Maritime Standard Award 2019 in the category of “The Maritime Education and Training”. The award ceremony was organised at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai. Prominent personalities across the globe were invited as the judges of the event. The award ceremony was attended by more than 700 executives from the shipping, ports, shipbuilding & repair industries and allied businesses from almost 70 countries. As it has always been a dazzling and sparkling occassion, the event has obviously shown why the industry in the Middle East and India considers this as leading award ceremony.

HIMT Celebrates Convocation Ceremony of Cadets

June 11, 2019:  HIMT College (Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training) celebrated the passing ceremony of 215 students across streams such as BTech (ME) Batch 05, BSc (NS) Batch 05, ETO Batch 15 and GP Ratings Batch 84. It has been a tradition at HIMT for scholastic excellence to be recognised and rewarded with scholarships. Principal Officer-cum-Joint Director General of Shipping (Technology), MMD, Chennai, Ajithkumar Sukumaran were invited as guest of honour. This year onwards, institute has decided to offer scholarships to top performers from Lakshadweep to encourage students. Althaf Kattige has been offered this scholarship. HIMT cadets have always been high on their enthusiasm. They have participated in various national and inter-college events such as Tempest 2018, MERI Kolkota, Naughtica 2019, Sail Synergy 2018, SVCE Chennai, AMET Chennai, IMU Chennai, IMU Kolkata, SIMS Lonavala, and NMDC Events Chennai and have also won several prizes.

Overall, the experience was really good, and I am really happy and thankful.

Placements: We are an ongoing batch and 50 percent of the students have already got the placement, we also got the placement in reputed and top companies like Mediterranean Shipping Company, Maersk, OSM Thome, Berge Bulk, Zodiac Maritime, Synergy Maritime, Marshall, etc.

Placements: In our institute, around 50% of students were placed since we are the ongoing batch. Top recruiting companies like ZODIAC MARITIME, M.Sc. MAERSK, and OSM THOME are responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems, automation, and power generation onboard.

I am feeling proud to study in HIMT college, where the faculty members and batchmates are helpful.

Placements: As we are in the September batch of 2024, almost 50% of the cadets have been placed. Even if we pass out, they will call us when any company approaches the college. Top shipping companies like MAERSK, Zodiac, and Berge Bulk have come for recruitment so far. At the first sail, the role of ETO is trainee ETO.

HIMT is one of the best platforms to pursue your career as a Marine.

Placements: In our course, 15 out of 30 students are placed in various companies like M.Sc., Zodiac Maritime, Marshall Shipping Management, Synergy, and D'Amico. The remaining cadets are shortlisted for reputed companies like Berge Bulk, M.Sc., and many other companies like MOL, Dynacom, etc.

Quality education, supportive faculty, good placements.

Placements: Up to my previous batch, all students from my course have gotten placements, and now many of them are onboard ships. From my batch, 50% have been placed on campus in reputed companies like Zodiac, M.Sc., Marshall, Synergy, D'Amico. For the remaining cadets, names have been sent to many companies like Burge Bulk, M.Sc.

It was great to be part of HIMT.

Placements: 50 percentage we already placed from my batch, and 50 percentage are remaining. The highest is 750 dollars PM, the lowest is 350 dollars PM, and average is like 450 dollars PM. M.Sc, Marshal, Zodiac, Synergy, and Demico offer Trainee Marine Engineer roles. After completing, we will join the ship.
