HIMT Chennai offers nearly 15 types of scholarships to make education accessible to students from all economic strata. Some of the Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training scholarships are explained in a brief below:
- Merit-Cum-Means based Scholarships in the memory of Late Smt Madhurika Suresh Vakil
Every year, several scholarships are awarded to students from the low-income group who record meritorious academic performance continuously and demonstrate economic needs. Madhurika Educational and Charitable trust has instituted three such scholarships for GP Rating students with the objective to provide financial support to them. Each student pursuing the GP Rating course is granted an amount of Rs 25,000.
- Scholarship for Indian Armed Forces
The Institute offers 50% waiver on tuition fees to the students whose parent has been martyred while in the service of Indian Armed Forces (Army/ Navy/ Airforce).
- Female Candidate Scholarship
A waiver of INR 25,000 on tuition fee is available for all female candidates across all courses.
- Scholarship for Lakshadweep Native Candidates
HIMT has taken an initiative to be a part of the skill development mission for Lakshadweep administration. Candidates with a proof of their nativity from Lakshadweep can pursue GP Rating course for INR 1,35,000.
The total fee for BTech courses at HIMT Chennai includes several components, such as tuition fee, hostel fee, admission fee, academic fee, etc. The course fees can be paid semester-wise from the second year. The eligibility requirements and admission process of both IMU Kolkata and HIMT Chennai are almost the same. The basic requirement that candidates must fulfil is that applicants must complete their Class 12 from the PCM stream with an aggregate of 60% and a minimum of 50% marks in English in Class 1

Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training, Chennai is not too much costly .The campus and infrastructure is well built. The courses fees is around INR 4 Lacs to INR 13 lakh including the mess and hostel. If you get scholarship the tuition fees will be less and you can there easily with INR 3 lakh to INR 10 lakh. The costs also depend on which course you gonna take. You can also check course wise fees on Shiksha.com or college website.
