IIT Kanpur - Indian Institute of Technology Answered Questions

Candidates seeking admission to BS at IIT Kanpur must have a valid score in JEE Main, JEE Advanced and go through JoSAA counselling for final admission. Admission is completely entrance exam-based and candidates seeking admission can not get into IIT Kanpur with only the scores of JEE Main. JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling is the mandatory requirement. Additionally, to be eligible for the BSc programme, students are required to have passed their Class 12 with at least 75% aggregate with Science subjects (i.e., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).

IIT Kanpur offers a four-year BS degree (Bachelor of Science) which is also referred to as BSc by many. At the undergraduate level, IIT Kanpur offers this programme in full-time and it provides both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Science. Available across six specialisations, admission to this programme is entrance exam-based (JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced). 

With respect to the past years' cutoff, Mathematics and Scientific Computing is considered to be the most competitive specialisation under this programme. Followed by this, Statistics & Data Science and Economics are the popular specialisations available at IIT Kanpur. The institute has not released the placement report incorporating the overall data for the 2024 drive. However, the media reports have disclosed the 2024 placement statistics till Phase I.
