- Meritorious Student (MST) or Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship Scheme: The merit-based scholarship in IIT Kanpur is aimed at offering financial assistance to meritorious students and help students from weaker economic backgrounds. The scholarship scheme covers approximately 25% students per batch of the institute, out of which 20% are reserved category students (SC/ST).

IIT Kanpur scholarships are for students who fulfil the eligibility criteria. Those who are eligible can go to the official website to apply. The scholarships are offered in a limited number.
IIT Kanpur tuition fee costs around INR 2,000 – INR 13.5 L. This fee is exclusive of other components such as examination fee, application fee, hostel fee, security deposit, etc. This fee is taken from the official website. It is subject to change. Hence, it is moderately costly.
The total fee for the four-year BS programme of IIT Kanpur is INR 8 lakh. This is inclusive of the one-time admission and caution deposits but is not inclusive of the hostel fee. However, this fee is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative. For the exact fee, students can reach out to the admission office. Other than this, students are required to pay the JEE Main application fee which is INR 625 (for boys) and INR 325 (for girls). For JEE Advanced, the application fee ranges from INR 1,400 to INR 2,800 for different category students.

Placements: Nearly 85 percent of those enrolled in chemical engineering got placed. Highest package is 50 LPA. The average package is 19 LPA to 20 LPA. 60 percent of students got internships at top companies, including Microsoft, ITC, BPCL, ICICI, and Meesho. Top roles offered are software engineering, product manager, and plant engineer.
Placements: For Civil Engineering branch at IIT Kanpur, 65 to 85 percent of students get placements. The average package is 16-20 LPA. The highest packages reach much higher, like around 40 LPA. BPCL and Larsen & Toubro are top recruiters, along with various consulting or software firms. For internships, 50 to 70 percent of students usually get opportunities in core engineering or other sectors. Internships depend on how you perform there. Some students even get internships in the 1st year.
Placements: Placements for Economics are honestly top-tier almost on par with the core engineering branches if you maintain a decent CPI. Around 85 to 90 percent of the students get placed easily while the rest usually go for higher studies or off-campus research. Placements: My branch is the second-best branch among the circuital branches after Computer Science in terms of placements. More than 50% of students from my branch get placed.
