Aspirants must pass BTech or BE or BArch (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class 12) or four-year BSc Engineering degree (with Mathematics as one of the subjects), or four-year BSc degree (with Mathematics as one of the subjects), or MSc (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG programme), or Master of Arts in Economics (with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the UG programme) with at least 60% aggregate (50% aggregate for SC/ ST) or a CPI of 6.0 (5.0 for SC/ ST) on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognised institute/ university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs to apply for IIT Kanpur MBA course.To apply through CAT at IIT Kanpur, candidates need to have a minimum of 85 percentile (55 for SC/ ST candidates).

A valid GATE score is required for admission to the M.Tech programme in the case of regular (non-sponsored) candidates. The requirement of GATE score is waived off for the candidates with MBBS degree as well as for the BTech graduates from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in BTech.
