Students also need to give JEE Mains and also obtained marks above the cutoff level to be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. If you are very much interest in CS then go for it. And if you want to go to IIT then you should join IIT Kanpur or SEE if any other branch you can get try for chemical engineering. The placements and internship stats are excellent at IIT Kanpur. Also most of the company are open to all the branches but sometime priority are give to the branch if everyone is equally talented. Some of MSE courses are difficult to handle but if your CPI is 10 in the first two semester then you can get CSE too. In the first two semester all the branches have same courses. Branch wise courses starts from 3rd semester onwards. Also IIT Kanpur offer double major or minor in every branch and you can do double major along with MSE and pursue you interest. I would say you should join IIT Kanpur. IIT Kanpur placement stats are good and programming culture is also great there. IIT Roorkee is also nice. If you want to consider the International ranking also IIT Kanpur is above the IIT Roorkee. IIT Kanpur campus is also great.

Hi , Admission for the B.Tech and BS program is done through JEE Advanced followed by JoSSA counselling. Candidates must have a minimum aggregate of 75% during HSC level to be eligible for admission. After the successful completion of Counselling process, candidates will have to report at IIT K for document submission, fee payment and confirmation of seat procedures.
