IIT Kanpur is a prestigious institute that comes under the top three IITs (as per recent years record). The most preferred branches from IIT Kanpur are CSE, aerospace and chemical. Though, the best college for chemical one may find in IIT Madras, but IIT Kanpur is also no less than that.
The placement data shows an average placement of 13 lakh per annum, whereas the highest being 22 lakhs and the lowest being 7 lakhs.

Established in 2001, the relatively new Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering (BSBE) strives to implement a multidisciplinary research and teaching program in modern biology and bioengineering. The department allows undergraduate (B.Tech) and postgraduate programs (M.Tech and Ph.D.). The branch is new whereas there are branches which are about 100 years old. But we are going into future not past. It is a thriving choice for engineering. It is just growing. The pay scale is not at par with other core jobs but it is satisfactory. There are other things other than money. 71% students get placed every year, making an average of 5 LPA package in core bio-engineering jobs. There are always other options for the participant. Gilead Sciences, Inc. (GILD), Amgen (AMGN), Celgene Corporation (CELG) and other pharmaceutical recruiters visit the campus for placements.
