The GIBS Business School employs an organized approach to secure jobs for students. The school has placement activities that start early throughout the programme and continue until graduates are placed by connecting students with companies through an established and well-defined placement cell. The placement staff provides ongoing assistance through finishing school training modules, resume writing sessions, aptitude testing, interview preparation and mock interviewing programs, which give students the tools necessary to secure employment. The placement office also has strong relationships with employers from many industries and hosts numerous recruiting/placement related events on campus, including pre-placement discussions, campus interviews and job fairs, as well as internships and industry interaction. The placement office has a placement coordinator and a support team of faculty and student representatives, who serve as the bridge between employers and students, facilitating the transfer of information and scheduling interviews.Students typically go through two major placement phases. During the first phase, when a student receives an offer, the student leaves the placement process, thereby giving other students an opportunity to secure. The second major phase of placement allows students to apply for higher-paying or "dream" company positions. By allowing students to apply to other positions, they ultimately have many opportunities to accept more than one offer. The GIBS Business School placement cell has a focus on continuous skill development through well-defined processes, partnerships with employers, and organized staffing events to ensure students have the necessary skills to successfully secure positions through the placement office.

GIBS continuously keeps its courses relevant to the current industry landscape by frequently updating the syllabus and adding real-world application (e.g., case studies, live work) to prepare students for successful careers in the global economy. Each course incorporates input from various professionals who have successful careers in their respective fields, and incorporates live projects, case studies, industry mentoring, and value-added credentials into the curriculum to address the needs of an ever-changing business environment. The curriculum is evaluated and updated periodically to account for trends associated with Industrial Revolution 4.0, while also including emerging disciplines like Digital Marketing, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, and Fintech, resulting in students obtaining skillsets that both match the business landscape as it is today, as well as where it will be tomorrow. The inclusion of dual specializations, practical training modules, and interaction with industry practitioners enables students to adapt to the changing market and make themselves marketable across multiple industries.

The 70:30 Practical-to-Theory RatioUnlike traditional models that rely on long lectures, GIBS often follows a 70% practical and 30% theoretical split. Beyond the Classroom: A significant portion of the curriculum is delivered through fieldwork, role-plays, and "action-learning" where students solve real-time business problems.Case Study Dominance: Rather than just reading chapters, students analyze complex business cases to simulate a "pseudo-real-life" work environment, forcing them to make quick, evidence-based decisions.

Along with classroom teaching, we also get to work on case studies, live projects, presentations, and group activities. Faculty explain concepts with real business examples, so it's easy to understand how theory is used in real life. We also have workshops, industry interactions, and skill-based training that helps us apply what we learn. From my experience, it never feels like only book knowledge—there is always a practical side connected to it.

It gives you two angles at the same time — the theory part and then the “how it actually works out there” part. For example, when an academic faculty explains a concept, the industry faculty will add a real case or scenario where the same thing played out in a company. It makes the whole classroom feel way more practical and updated. As a student, it helped me connect the dots between what we study and what's expected in placements or internships. Overall it adds a lot of value because we don't just learn for exams, we learn for the market.
