I wouldn't switch just because someone says one branch is better than the other. It really depends on what interests you and what kind of career you're aiming for.

Personally, I'd stay in Electrical unless I had a strong interest in Mechanical. A senior I know started in Electrical and later found plenty of opportunities in tech and analytics as well. Before changing, try talking to students from both branches and see which subjects you can actually imagine studying for the next 4 years.

Electrical Engineering at NIT Silchar can be a good option. NIT Silchar has strong core curriculum, smaller batch sizes for better access to professors and lab time. The institute has consistent on-campus placements with roles aligning with the specialisation. However, the choice depends on the students.

Electrical Engineering at IIT BHU is a programme with strong academics & outstanding placement opportunities. Breaking into the tech industry is highly achievable, as tech, software & quant companies eagerly recruit "circuital branch" students and value the analytical skills of electrical engineers.
