IIIT Dharwad is popularly known for BTech programme under the guidance of expert faculty members. Instead, this institute requires candidates to have certain subjects as mandatory in Class 12th such as Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies and Computer Science. Since all of these subjects are of commerce stream, candidates should assume it to be mandatory.</p>

It was establsihed under the Public-Prvate Patnership model but it is commonly known for its BTech in Computer Science Engineering.
