There are plenty of colleges which offer lateral entry in India but not possible in VIT. I don’t remember when there was lateral entry last time in VIT. Very similar to VIT one college SRM do offer lateral entry so you can try your luck there. There are less number of seats in SRM so you need to apply at the earliest.

Let me explain you the admission system here. Rank in VIT to get admission should be 90,000, so you can get admission in VIT in the 6th category as well. There are various categories as well. With each category admission, the fee goes higher. The first category closed till 15,000 rank, and you can get CSE till 9000 rank and IT till 11000 rank, but there is a 2nd category as well, if you want CSE, you have to pay more for that.
