Management & IT Consultant,

A lateral entry admission is one where a student directly enters in the second year of his engineering, MCA or MBA, etc degrees. Each degree has its own admission criterion. For example for B.Tech, lateral entry candidate must have completed a Diploma in their respective branch or B.Sc in PCM to be eligible for the lateral entry programme. Candidates after completing their Diploma, have to appear for LEET (a special examination for enrollment in the engineering colleges offering lateral entry for B.Tech). Few states conduct their own LEET examination.

Hello Shubhi,
The process of taking admission in aeronautical engineering is exactly as same as that of any other branch of engineering. For NIT, IIT or CGFI, you have to go through JEE Mains. For different colleges in different states, you can go for CET exam of that state.

Hello V Louis,
It's actually a very simple process. The student needs to score 75% or more in qualifying exam like 12th or equivalent. Then appear in JEE Mains exam and be in top (approx) 3L students who are eligible to take JEE Advanced exam. Take this exam and be in top 500- 1000 to get this branch in IIT Mumbai.
Best wishes to you.

IIT Delhi MTech admission is completely entrance-based. Candidates seeking admission to the IIT Delhi M.Tech course must appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). However, BTech graduates from IITs with an overall CGPA of 8.00 out of 10 are exempted from GATE and are eligible for direct admissions. Apart from this, candidates are also requested to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria to be eligible for IIT Delhi MTech admission.

The admission committee decides your admission on overall criteria of your previous academic performance, work experience, performance in design test, and performance in interview, portfolio and CEED scores. The Design test will be about one and half hours duration. It will test your ability to creatively and appropriately solve simple design problems. Importance is given to the following - Problem Analysis, Creativity, and Alternate Concepts, Justifications for your Solutions and Visual and Textual Presentation Skills. You need to bring your own drawing/writing aids such as pencils, brushes, colors, paints, etc. For the test.
