If you want to get admission in good IITs and NITs , you will have to score nearly 300 marks in JEE Mains exam. Then, you have to appear for JEE Advanced exam. If you will get good marks in both exams, you will get really a very good IITs and NITs.
Same advise for IIST. JEE Mains and Advanced exams are required to get admission in IIST.

There is no lateral entry admission in IIT Bombay, you have to clear JEE Mains and JEE Advance for getting into IIT Bombay for aerospace engineering

<p>To get admission in IIT Ropar students have to check the eligibility first. Eligible students can then apply online. IIT Ropar accepts students on an entrance basis primarily. Seats are offered through the counselling process. Selected students have to pay the admission fees to complete the process.</p>

Crack CAT or Nothing,

The chances to get IIT Bombay seems low whereas IIT Madras is very high if you perform well in GD/PI. Last year the cut off for Bombay was 90%+ whereas for chennai was 85%+.
Also if you want,you can consider IIT Roorke and IIT kanpur. Chances seems good in these IITs also.
