You have to be proactively searching for universities offering research work in your area. Check their research activities, noble prize winners, patents, publications etc and overall ranking. Admission process includes an acceptance by a research supervisor. Before a formal application process, you must communicate with the specific department supervisors and share your research ideas and proposals. They have to accept you before you submit your application. Enquire about funding, stipends etc before applying. Also take the GRE .

MBA programs typically require 2 years of work experience at the time of application and applicants must also take the GMAT or GRE. Additionally, international applicants must also take the IELTS or TOEFL for English language proficiency. Now, these criteria and minimum score requirements may vary from university to university.
