Yes, you can take lateral entry in 2nd year, but it is more beneficial when all the subjects are same as in your present college. There might be a problem of adjusting with a new college and surroundings. The change can either be positive of negative. It is completely up to you as to how you manage the transition. There sure are lateral admissions but for the process you need to contact the management.

The lateral entry is for those who have done diploma instead of their high school. They are directly admitted to the 2nd year of the engineering instead of going to 1st year.

As per the internet sources, there is no seat at DTU to choose B.Tech CSE through lateral entry. I don't know the exact reason behind this, but the truth is that there are no seats available for B.Tech in CSE through lateral entry.

Hello Himu,
There are many private colleges, well-known, who offer lateral entry in second year of engineering if you have completed diploma in concerned topic. All such admissions are made based on guidelines issued by AICTE. In addition, normally, the state from which you have completed diploma, will have an entrance test for lateral intake in colleges of that particular state.
Best wishes.

But in general, it can easily take up to around 4 to 6 months for you to grab a seat at your desired college because of the formalities involved like the college application process, entrance exams (if applicable), results, merit lists, college counseling, seat allotment, fee payment, and admission confirmation.

Know more about -
<a href="https://www.shiksha.com/engineering/automobile-engineering-admission-chp"&...
