I'm sorry to say that IITs only give admission based on JEE Mains and Advanced once you are qualified for JEE Mains then you will be allowed to give JEE Advanced through which you will get admitted to IITs.

Rank near to 1500 in general-PWD category can get you a seat in NITs for OBC and SC/ST PWD category marks required are even slightly lesser.

According to the previous year opening and closing ranks, your chances of getting an IIT are really low and for mechanical engineering you rank should be at least 5000-7000. So your chances are less. You can try it in the counselling.

You can definitely get admission in most of the engineering colleges. Colleges do offer admissions based on the score in their own entrance examinations. Not only getting admission you can also get scholarships based on your marks in the examination. Check out the below mentioned colleges.

For taking admission in IIT after drop is that you should not have taken admission in any of the IIT course previous year. There is not an issue if you take admission in NIT or IIITs and next year, appear for JEE Advanced (meeting all other eligibility criteria). You should must visit the FAQ section on JEE Advanced website where they have answered like almost all of the different scenarios for students. Hope it helps then please upvote.
