Any Diploma in engineering or B.Sc student from a recognised university or institute is eligible for a lateral entry admission in B.Tech 2nd-year. B.Tech lateral entry admission process varies in different engineering colleges. Admission in DTU is based on marks in Diploma in engineering. Manipal University admission is based on its B.Tech Entrance Examination. Some states conduct LEET exam for lateral entry admission in the state engineering colleges.
