Yes, there is a reservation for physically handicapped student in IIT.
Persons with disability (PWD) 3% seats in each of open, OBC-NCL, SC and ST category seats. The benefit would be given to those, who have at least 40% impairment irrespective of the type of disability i.e., locomotor, visual or severe dyslexic.
Leprosy-cured candidates who are otherwise fit to pursue the courses are also included in this sub-category.

There are 2 criteria for NITs, IIITs, IITs, and GFTIs. First: You need to have at least 75% in your respective board exam. Second: You need to meet the top 20 percentile criteria. No, you can't not even if you have internationally published and recognized projects. They want GATE. I don't know if it's an IIT thing or an MHRD thing but a person who spends most of his/her day doing really good projects has little time to prepare for exams like GATE and are usually not the type who sit idle and study for an exam for a year after finishing their degree.
