Sure he can! First ask your son what he wants to do which stream he is interested in! There are many ways he can do everything! I am telling my case. During class 12th examination I gave JEE then got selected and gave advance and shortlisted in many colleges but I am not getting my choice of stream! I want to take CSE as my stream but the cutoff is too low I dint get the chance, so I opted for another colleges! So if your son is interested in aeronautics engineering he sure can give JEE during his 12th exams no issue in that! As per questions, yes, you are eligible to take both Mains and advanced test. But to take admission in IIT, the minimum eligibility for you to take add admission is that you have to score 65% in 12th boards. So, go for it. All the best for future.

If you want to get admission in any IIT then You need at least 75% marks in combined all subjects. If you clear JEE advance but you don't have the required marks then you cannot go to IIT. Yes But you can get good NIT if you get good marks in JEE approximately 170+. .

You need to qualify JEE Mains in order to pursue B.Tech from NIT.

It depend, in which stream you want to take admission. But, approximately you need 170 marks for top NITs.

Minimum marks you must score to get a chance for a seat in IITs you need to score around 150+. Competition is fierce for top IITs. A score around 45 was cut off for JEE Advanced. This year 34425 qualified in JEE Advanced. Minimum marks -73 and Maximum marks-29. Comparison-
JEE Main 2018 cut offs for JEE Advanced has dipped significantly this year as compared to 2017. For 2018, the cut for general candidates is 74 as compared to 81 in last year.
