By preparing and of course scoring well in JEE main, you can get admission in NITs, but to get admission in IIT you have to first score well in JEE main and required 75% marks in class 12th. Then you are eligible for appearing in JEE advance examination. If you score well in this exam, you can get admission for IIT. To get admission in IIT, you have to do smart work and it's totally different from the preparation of JEE main exam.

Cutoffs are decided every year based on many factors that are dynamic in nature. Total number of students appeared in that subject, total number of seats available, etc. As per the trend, every year more students are appearing. The trend of getting marks is also considered while deciding cutoffs. It is expected that the cutoff would be around 25 this year for general category candidates.

If you are interested in pursuing a career in engineering or technology, GATE exam is the right choice. On the other hand, if you are interested in pursuing a career in Science, then IIT JAM is the better option for admission to IITs. GATE exam conducted by IITs and IISc and the Jam conducted by IITs. Helping others is my habit.,

Now, fee of IIT has also increase for the general category. Since for SC / ST the programme is free of cost. For the OBC there is much less fee comparatively to that of the general category. Just check the fee structure for IIT and other because I don't know the exact fee structure. Go for some scholarship exams that university give when you pass the entrance exam with higher marks. For any other query please feel free to ask.
Wish you all the best.

Hello Juned!
IIT admission is not purely based on 12th standard marks. You must have atleast 75% to get admission into an IIT.
Above all, you need to pass the JEE Advanced exam with a good score, only then you will get admission in an IIT. And after passing that exam, they will see to that you have atleast 75% in your board exams.
If you pass JEE Advanced but you don't have 75% then you will not get admission.
All the best!

Hello Pradeep,
Surely, Diploma holders can get admitted in IITs. In the brochure for admission, it is clearly stated that one must have 75% or more in 12th or equivalent. Diploma is considered as equivalent to 12th and hence you can eligible. If you clear JEE Mains, you are eligible to take part in admission process of non IIT institutes and if you clear JEE Advanced then you are eligible for admission in IIT's itself.
