Let me first explain the dynamics of lateral admission. These admissions are given basically against the seats which are lying vacant when the students pass out from 1st year and go to the second year. In addition to this some super numery seats are also allotted for lateral admission. Generally speaking, IITs do not allow lateral admission but have declared Diploma equivalent of class 12th and hence Diploma holders can compete along with the class 12th passed students for admission to IITs by following normal procedure. Different states have different procedures for lateral admission. Some states give lateral admissions

It's very nice indeed to hear from you that you are interested in acquiring the degree of aeronautical engineering by means of a unique method that is clearing section A and B of the examinations conducted by Aeronautical Society of India. After registration, you get about six years to complete these two examinations enabling you to time it as per your schedule and still acquire the desired degree. Aeronautical engineers have less number of opportunities at present in the Indian industry. There are two major employers in DRDO and ISRO both being government agencies. Of course, armed forces also employ some Aeronautical engineers in their maintenance branch but other than this as the Aerospace industry has not grown much the requirement of Aeronautical engineers is also less. On the other hand the civilian air traffic market in India is expanding. The number of passengers is growing at the rate of 15% per annum and so also is the cargo traffic. In view of this, requirement of aircraft maintenance engineers is

The value of a Diploma is higher in Canada than India so naturally, you will have better scope. You can gain some experience, earn some money, get an MBA or something can return to India later. Plan properly. I would also suggest you check career options with the colleges first, practical co-op options to gain work experience, career support centres, etc.

Practically speaking both are one and the same in the Indian context and hence there can be nothing like number 1 & 2. Actually, Aeronautical Engineering is the correct name for educational issues and it's the aerospace industry that manufactures aero components or structures. I hope, I have explained to avoid confusion. Best wishes to you.

Of course yes. With such good marks in Diploma, even though it is in mechanical engineering, you can definitely apply for graduation in Aeronautical Engineering. However I will like to advise you that as per my opinion mechanical engineering will be better for you than aeronautical engineering because the jobs in Aeronautical are much less as compared with mechanical engineering and you would be better of doing graduation in this. However, the final choice remains yours. Best wishes to you.
