All three branches are relatively similar. All deals with the mechanical part of engineering.
Though in automobile engineering, you mainly deal with engine and motors of vehicles.
Whereas in mechanical engineering, you deal with every aspect of mechanics that is there.
Mechatronics is a combination of mech and electronics where you deal with combined electronic and mechanical aspects of things. This is a relatively newer branch and should be pursued from good institutes only.

To appear in automobile engineering course, there are many of the entrance examination of undergraduate engineering courses. It becomes compulsory that the student must have passed the higher secondary school certificate examinations with the subjects specialised in Physics, Chemistry & Maths. So, if you are an arts student, you can't pursue it.

Preparing for job and career is a tougher job. I really suggest you to join in B.Tech while preparing the government exams, if you completed the B.Tech, then technically you have two degrees in hand. Applying for government job then make you so beneficial for your career. Even when you get promotion opportunity then your higher degree education helps you a lot. Before choosing anything think for a second and make a good move in your life.

Hello Brijesh,
Mechanical engineering is the base of all branches like aeronautical, aerospace and automobile engineering. You can also do a B.Tech in automobile, but it is a specialised stream which has lesser prospects when compared to mechanical as a whole. So, the better option would be to choose mechanical engineering in your B.Tech and do a post graduate degree (ME/M.Tech) in automobile.
All the best.
