Yes , you might be eligible to apply for B.Tech in Automobile Engineering at LPU, after finishing 10+2 with a vocational (AET) course, if you actually meet the university's eligibility conditions. LPU normally considers students who have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and English (or a similar qualification). On top of that, you also need to qualify through LPUNEST, JEE Main, or CUET, depending on what applies to your case.

No, you cannot join IITs through lateral entry after a diploma. Institutes like Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and other Indian Institutes of Technology only admit students into B.Tech (including aeronautical/aerospace) through the regular first-year route via Joint Entrance Examination Advanced, after qualifying Joint Entrance Examination Main. The automobile market in India is also booming at a high pace. You can opt for a BTech in Automobile Engineering in India's top colleges like IIT Delhi, DTU, NIT, SIMATS, etc.

No, you don't, to be honest. The curriculum will teach all the basics and required knowledge about the field. With all the project work, seminars, internships, etc., you'll gain the skills needed in the Automobile Engineering line.
Some abilities, however, are a plus if you have them beforehand.
