HICAS BCom course duration is three-year spread across six semesters for all the specialisations. Hence, HICAS BCom curriculum includes subjects semester-wise. Throughout the course of the programme, students are required to study Modern Indian Langusge, Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course, Discipline Specific Course, Generic Elective, AEE and value-added subjects. HICAS BCom syllabus varies according to the specialisation selected by candidates. At the end of the second semester of HICAS BCom, students are required to go for Internship/ Industrial Visit or Mini project for some specialisations.

HICAS BCom seat allotment is based on marks secured by candidates in the qualifying examination. Admission to the BCom programme is purely based on merit achieved by candidates, subject to the rules of reservation of the Government of Tamil Nadu. HICAS BCom seat reservation followed by the institute policy is as follows:
- 50% seats will be filled as per the reservation policy stipulated by the regulatory bodies
- 50% seats will be filled through the Management Quota
