The NIFT test is the entrance exam that NIFT Srinagar accepts for admission to the B.Des program. The National Institute of Fashion Technology administers the NIFT, a national design entry test. The test consists of two components and is administered once a year. The GAT and CAT are written tests. While only candidates for the B.Des and M.Des programs must take the CAT, all programs require the GAT test. B. applicants who are shortlisted for further consideration must appear in a Situation Test; PG applicants must appear in a Personal Interview. The B.F.Tech programme is the lone exception, where the entrance merit list will be created only using GAT results.

The admissions process for NIFT Srinagar is conducted online, with the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) serving as the final selection criteria. Candidates must have passed the Plus 2 level exam in the 10+2 pattern of examination from any recognised Central or State Board of Secondary Examination, such as the Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi, and the Central Board of Secondary Education/State Board New Delhi, in order to be eligible. or A passing score in at least five subjects on the National Open School Senior Secondary School Examination is required for admission to BDes course.

Candidates who pursue BDes, a four-year bachelor's program, have excellent job opportunities. This 4-year, UG-level course is offered by NIFT Srinagar. Unlike other arts and sciences degrees that offer design as a specialisation, BDes is a technical degree in design. It gives students real-world experience, preparing them for the workforce. An average designer at NIFT Srinagar placed during the drive makes about 5 LPA. The entire cost of tuition for the B.Des in Fashion Design at NIFT Srinagar is INR 5.5 L. There are 46 seats available for the course. NIFT 2024 Round 4 seat allotment has been released for B.Des course. Candidates can log in and check their results on the official website.

A Diploma in Fashion Designing is a foundational program that provides basic skills and knowledge in fashion design. Completing a Diploma can prepare you for entry level positons in the fashion industry or for further education. A B.Des Degree in Fashion Designing is a more comprehensive program that delves deeper into design principles, materials, and fabrics as well as industry trends and client specific designs. 

Pursuing a B.Des Degree after a Diploma in Fashion Designing can be beneficial for you if you:

The National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong, accepts the NIFT entrance exam for admission to the B.Des courses. NIFT Shillong cutoff 2025 has been released in multiple rounds, wherein the B.Des cutoff ranged between 2021 and 2781 for the General AI category candidates. So, considering the third round cutoff, students seeking admission to NIFT Shillong must secure a rank up to 2781 or lower to be eligible for B.Des admission in Round 3.
