To apply for the BDes programme at NIFT Hyderabad, the maximum age for candidates must be less than 24 years as of August 1st of the admission year.

B.Des programme at NIFT Hyderabad requires you to pass your class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognised board. You must be under 24 years of age as of August 1st of the admission year (with 5-year relaxation for SC/ST/PwD), and qualify for the NIFT Entrance Exam (CAT & GAT). Candidates holding a 3 or 4-year Diploma in engineering or a class 12 equivalent from a recognised board (including IB or NIOS) are also eligible.

IIFA Lancaster Institute of Design selects students on a direct basis for the BDes programme. The selection is done on the following basis:

  • Academic merit + creative aptitude and interest in design + portfolio review + interview

You will not be offered any direct admission to NIFT Delhi even if you are a class 12th topper. Candidates must fill the NIFT Entrance Application and appear for the exam. If they clear the cutoff, admission is offered.

Admission to NIFT Kolkata BDes is based on performance in NIFT Entrance Exam. This includes the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT). After this, there will be a Situation Test, interview, and document verification for final selection.

Yes, 40 is a good marks for NIFT B.Des 2026 this year (expected). For NIFT B.Des, General Category, 40 - 50 is the goodscore for the general category, for OBC, it will be around 30, for SC/ST, it will be around 30.
